GUCCI

Milan Fall 2008
Thursday, February 21, 2008

(MILAN) Roll Call: Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Franca Sozzani, Kate Betts, Nina Garcia, Virginia Smith, Annabel Tollman, Joanna Coles.

Chic Report: If you can imagine that Marianne Faithfull, in all her rock-and-roll hippie decadence, was kidnapped by a gang of very chic Cossacks circa 1971, you've summed up Frida Giannini's accomplished fall collection. So sexy, so dirty, so Gucci, the models stormed the Mexican-textiled runway in morning-after hair and kohl-rimmed eyes, sporting skinny pants tucked into fringed boots, low-slung scarf belts, high-drama furs, flippy mini-dresses, and drapy, louche gowns in swirling paisley prints. Gold, lipstick-red, and animal print accents abounded, as well as a knockout line of babushka jewelry and handbags bound to invite a gaggle of knockoffs. "The collection was beautiful bohemian; strong but sexy at the same time," said Elle's Joe Zee. "It was everything I love about Gucci!"
